Yellow and Grey/Blue Collage of Grace Slick as The Morrigu

$1,500.00

36 × 36 inch mixed media on canvas

Yellow and Grey/Blue Collage of Grace Slick as The Morrigu

Made with magazine clippings, painted transparencies, love letters, acrylic paint, pastel.

Part of an ongoing series of classic Woodstock-era rock-n-roll icons depicting deities from various pantheons— with an emphasis on Celtic and Norse gods and goddesses.

The Morrigu is an ancient Irish warrior goddess, goddess of life and death, part raven/part Moon. Grace Slick was one of the first women to front a rock-n-roll band, singing with Jefferson Airplane in the 1960s. Definitely a pioneer in the psychodelic scene, and a musical power house.
